This landscape variety of Engelhard bar was engraved post-production by Numitelics International and is a private issue limited to 1000 pieces. Each bar was engraved on both sides with the obverse reflecting Numitelics International hallmark on the left and secondary serial number on the right. There was no assurance as to which commercial bars were used for engraving; therefore, the total issuance of engraved Engelhard bars is unknown.
We believe Engelhard Industries of Canada produced this bar in 1973 and that it was engraved by Numitelics International in 1973 to commemorate the resignation of Spiro T. Agnew. The stamping placement on the reverse of this example is a variation of other production pieces.
NOTE: This bar does not appear on the 1oz Definitive Page as the novelty counterstamp was not applied by Engelhard. Serial numbers 0462 and 0532 also known.
