Command | FMC Corporation - 1986

Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation may be traced back to 1883 with the founding of Bean Spray Pump Company in Los Gatos, California. John Bean introduced a better insecticide spray pump and set up shop behind his house. 1901 brought the introduction of the Magic Pump, a vertical pump that yielded higher pressure than any other available. The company grew into Food Machinery Corporation in 1928 and truncated its name to FMC in 1946.

FMC has headquarters in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and employs 5500 people worldwide. Corporate divisions include FMC Agricultural Solutions, FM Health & Nutrition, FMC Minerals and FMC Peroxygens.

All Engelhard archives indicate that this ¾ AU Engelhard-produced round was minted in 1986 in honor of their new Command soybean herbicide. There reportedly were only 12 of these rounds produced, one for each of the FMC board members.
