 ENGELHARD

is pleased to welcome visitors to our M & B Mining Corporation. Definitive Page. While our focus is clearly Engelhard, we recognize that many Engelhard bullion collectors also collect other bars and ingots. As such, we appreciate the opportunity to present additional collections and look forward to your thoughts and input!

The well recognized and quite artful M & B ‘Omega’ Hallmark was originally filed for patent on September 10, 1969 and ultimately registered on March 2, 1971.  Archives indicate this hallmark was first used for commercial purposes on July 7, 1969.  It is believed that M & B Mining Corporation of Las Vegas, Nevada produced the ingots presented below from 1969 to 1974.  At least some examples were originally offered by Danny B. Crabb Coins of Van Nuys, California.  For many years after production, the unique hallmark was believed by collectors to have been a stylized ‘Omega’ symbol, the Greek representation of “all encompassing’.  It is actually a cleverly intertwined presentation of the letters M and B.

Two distinct variety of the M & B Mining Corporation hallmark exist, a rather rudimentary ‘single outline’ hallmark as well as the relatively more decorative ‘double outline’ hallmark.  Both variety are presented below in their corresponding weight class.
